Every teacher I know (including me) is in an absolute frenzy of grading right now.
Me, I feel like griping about it, especially since I hit my first plagiarized paper just a few moments ago. The worst thing about it is that I was giving the student a chance --- she was flunking the course, so I gave her an extra credit option --- a four page expository essay on the topic of her choice, with Works Cited page.
Well, she plagiarized the whole danged thing. And there's little that makes me grumpier than a plagiarist.
So I decided to come to dKos to see if there's any other teachers on here so we could grump at one another about it.
But there weren't, at least not that I could find.
So I'm posting this diary. I anticipate it falling off the diary list in no time flat with nary a comment, as I assume all of you are either hiding in bed under the covers hoping those giant piles of grading will magically disappear - or you've fled the country - or you're in so deep, there's no looking up.
Me, I'm on my third pot of coffee for the day, and think I might just be able to finish tonight, if I don't run into any more plagiarists. They always throw my rhythm off.
It's tempting just to give up on it all and determine the final grades with a few games of darts.
Or maybe to do what another frustrated teacher at this school did a few years ago: stuff all the final papers into an empty box of Cheerios and mail to the university with a short note explaining he's given up on them.
If you're out there, fellow grading teachers, how's it going??
